Dear Sirs,
New Government Buildings.
I am instructed to make the following proposals for the settlement of the disputes between the Government and yourselves with regard to the above.
(1). You to resign the position of consulting Architects as on the 31st. instant, and not to be required to supply any further
darwings, or quantities.
(2). The sum of £1,048.12 to be paid by the Government to you in full settlement of your remuneration as Consulting Architects (except as to the Clock Tower).
(3). No claims to be made against you in respect of delay, defective details, or work done by the Public Works Department under the arrangement made between yourselves and the Director of Public Works in August last.
(4). You to write to the Director of Public Works withdrawing all imputations of unprofessional conduct or partiality against
Hr. H. G. Fisher.
With regard to (2) it appears that you received the balance of your remuneration at the full rate of 5% on the cost of foundations and basement up to ground level in March, 1906, and that in January, 1907, you received the balance of your full re- -muneration at 5% on the contract for the superstructure.

On the 17th. April, 1905, you submitted an estimate of the cost of Heating, Flectric Lighting, Bells, Lighting conductors Lifts, Drainage, Sanitary Fittings. Water supply, Post Office Fittings and Contingencies, amounting to $27,950, and the sum of $1,048.12 represents commission at 31% upon that amount: no quantities for these extras have been supplied.
